We had a few unexpected visitors check out my ryegrass plot…

In addition to that, I update you on all of my turf test plots and how things are looking at this point. Overall, it was a great season for planting grass seed without any major storms and a few light overseeds of a few areas will have these in great shape for the 2023 lawn season.

  2. I almost forgot about your rivalry with Connor! I’m glad things are starting to heat back up.

  3. Can’t say how much we love your seed mixtures. We have few customers with your Elite PRG and the Elite Shade mix. They are coming in absolutely beautiful. We have another Elite shade mix going in this week.

  4. Looking nice, Ryan. Looking forward to watching end-of-season on those plots. After that cruel summer, we *finally* have good fall temperatures for renovation in the PNW, which was exactly what I just finished last week. Ended up putting down about 22 lbs of your elite PRG on a near-full-reno of approximately 3000 sf of 22-year-old yard scalped, deep-dethatched, and killed-off, then covered with very lite compost to keep it down. Kept about 3 lbs for hand-filling thin spots later. Currently watering in short cycles 4x daily to keep it damp. Tomorrow the Scotts Triple Action with integrated mesotrione goes down, four days after the renovation, leveling, seeding, rolling, top-cover, and rolling again to ensure seed-to-soil contact. That Landzie spreader and leveling rake are absolutely amazing, btw, and well -worth the money. Thank you again for your amazing technical education and inspiration to get off my duff and just do it!

  5. I absolutely love these updates and seeing all the test plots! Have you thought about trying a dormant seeding trial this winter? KBG or FF can benefit from it since they are slower to establish as you have shown.

  6. Ryan, I was scheduled to have TruGreen aerate my lawn (lots of slopes and I am tired of doing this myself). I cut my lawn really short and was planning on overseeding after aeration. They sprayed my lawn for weeds instead of aerating so now I can’t overseed but I have several bare spots from a bad round of brown spot this year. The record says they sprayed with Tri-power. Should I just wait a month and try to aerate/overseed mid October or forget about it and save my expensive GCI Turf seed until next year?

  7. I’m in the middle of a back yard lawn renovation and I’m looking for any suggestions on how to remove the old grass/weeds. I cut and bagged the lawn to a half an inch. Ran a tiller over the whole thing but raking up the dead roots/leaves has left blisters all over my hands. Hoping to find a better solution before I tackle my front yard next year. Thanks!
